Last year, the Ford Fusion fell just short of receiving a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It earned a good rating in four out of five crashworthiness categories (small-overlap front, moderate-overlap front, side, roof strength, and head, restraints, and seats). In small-overlap collisions, it was rated acceptable, but acceptable isn't enough for the stringent standards of the IIHS.
Safety-conscious drivers in Traverse City now have the chance to own the Top Safety Pick+ awarded 2017 Ford Fusion.
What's changed?
The 2017 Fusion has a redesigned front end, and updates affect more than just how sleek and aggressive the new LED headlights look! The reinforced structure protects drivers from small-overlap collisions, earning it a good rating from the IIHS. It also features superior-rated front-collision-prevention technology.
"The 2017 Ford Fusion is our most advanced car yet and we're proud to see it recognized by NHTSA and the IIHS for its safety performance too," said Bill Strickland, chief program engineer, Ford Motor Company. "Great new features include a pedestrian detection system and hands-free parallel and perpendicular parking capability, as well as existing optional lane-keeping assist and Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert."
