What Are Current Ford ST Options?
You currently have the choice of two current Ford ST options, both in our SUV lineup. There is the Ford Edge ST, which offers a twin-turbo engine with 335 horsepower and unique badging throughout to give you lots of appeal and high-end performance from the SUV.
The other option is the Ford Explorer ST. This comes with the ST-Line trim, which has the badging and some performance boosts, but mainly stays with standard options, especially under the hood. The full Ford Explorer ST however uses an engine that attains 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque for a top speed of 143 miles per hour. It too offers unique style and badging in the vehicle as you have an SUV that is all about performance and fun while offering Intelligent 4WD to make it an appealing choice for those in Traverse City as we know there is a high demand for those who need that to stay on the road for all seasons.
In addition to these current models, there is a slight possibility you could find two ST options where the nameplate has been discontinued as a new vehicle but can live on in our used car lineup. This includes the Ford Fiesta ST and Ford Focus ST, both of which get a big performance boost for some hot hatch feel.
The all-new Ford Explorer ST-Line uses the standard EcoBoost 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that outputs 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque while being paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The ST-Line mainly comes as a rear-wheel-drive model, earning 21/28 (city/highway) miles per gallon. Optional all-wheel drive ST-Line Explorers earn 20 miles per gallon on Michigan city streets and 27 miles per gallon on highways.
Ford Explorer ST-Line Design
The all-new ST-Line Explorer looks more powerful than the sporty ST trim. The ST-Line Ford Explorer touts 20-inch alloy wheels, a black grille mesh, blackout treatment for headlamps and taillamps, fascia-integrated dual exhaust tips, and gloss black Explorer hood badging.
The Ford Explorer ST-Line's cabin shows off with ambient cabin lighting, red accent stitching, and simulated suede panels in the simulated leather upholstery. A self-dimming rearview mirror, scuff plates, and premium floor mats are nice design touches. Motorists can enjoy comfortable driving with Ebony Black ActiveX™-trimmed seats with Miko inserts, heated front seats, and a heated sport-styled steering wheel.
Like all other Ford Explorer models, the ST-Line provides 18.2 cubic feet of cargo space, expanding to a total cargo volume of 87.8 cubic feet. This SUV can seat six or seven passengers, depending on if Michigan families want their ST-Line Explorer outfitted with a pair of second-row captain's chairs or a three-person bench.
Ford Explorer ST-Line Safety & Technology
A 360-degree camera, rain-sensing wipers, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging pad, and an available 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system are all solid tech upgrades seen in the ST-Line Explorer. Ford Explorer ST-Line models also step up the safety presence by tacking on additional driver-assist technologies with Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+. Additional driving aids include Evasive Steering Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, and voice-activated navigation.
